Meet the twelve Chinese zodiac animals

Years shown: 1924–2026. Born in January or early February? Your year animal may belong to the previous year. Four Pillars uses a solar-year boundary around February 4, so enter your full birth details in the chart to confirm.

From one animal to Four Pillars

Your birth year is the beginning of the picture. Your birth month, day, and hour each have an animal too. Sometimes the same animal appears more than once.

Each of those four parts pairs its animal with an element symbol, connected to Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water. Together, the four pairs make up your Four Pillars. Their eight symbols give BaZi its name, “Eight Characters.”

Your Master Element comes from the element symbol of your birth day. It’s the starting point for reading how the other parts of the chart relate to you.

More than one side of you

I look at how the whole chart comes together. The side of you people meet first may feel different from the way you are with someone close, or how you respond when life asks more of you. That’s part of what makes a reading interesting to me.

A chart can offer a fresh way to look at familiar patterns. Your experience gives those ideas context, and the choices you make are still yours.

A place to start: When do I feel most like myself—and when do I notice a different side of me?

02 · Get to know your chart

Meet your Master Element.

Get to know the element at the heart of your chart, and see what feels familiar.

Read the guide · 2 min

Start with your Master Element

Your Master Element, also called your Day Master, comes from the day you were born. It represents you at the heart of the chart and gives us a place to begin exploring your natural qualities.

Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water each bring different qualities to the reading. You might recognize growth, warmth, steadiness, clarity, or reflection. You can relate to more than one; the whole chart helps put them in context.

Why isn’t it the biggest part of my wheel?

Your Master Element comes from a particular place in the chart. The wheel shows the mix of elements across it. So another element can have a larger share, even though your Master Element is where the reading begins.

I wouldn’t read a smaller share as a missing ability or something you need to fix. I’m interested in how those different qualities come together, and what you recognize in your own life.

Something to think about: Which parts of the description feel familiar—and where do I see things differently?

03 · Understand your connections

What can a relationship reading tell you?

What feels easy between you? Where do you approach things differently? Let’s start there.

Read the guide · 2 min

Start with the two of you

I’m interested in how two people connect—what feels easy between them, where they approach things differently, and what could use a little more understanding. Bringing their charts together gives us another way to explore those questions.

Differences don’t automatically make a relationship difficult. Sometimes the same quality feels supportive in one situation and needs more care in another. A reading can help give you something useful to talk about.

Keep your real relationship in view

A chart can’t tell me someone’s intentions or decide whether you should stay or leave. How you treat each other, whether you feel safe, and how you respect each other’s boundaries matter more than an animal pairing.

You can explore romance, friendship, working relationships, or parent and child. If you’re thinking about dating or a potential match, I offer compatibility insights. I don’t introduce people to potential partners.

A conversation to start: What helps each of us feel supported—and have we asked rather than assumed?

04 · Before your reading

Don’t know your birth time?

You may still be able to begin. I’ll explain what you can use and what a missing hour leaves out.

Read the guide · 2 min

Use what you know

Don’t know exactly what time you were born? You may still be able to begin. Your birth hour adds another part to the chart, but you don’t need the exact minute just to get started if you know the hour.

Use the local clock time where you were born. The tool handles the time-zone adjustment, so you don’t need to convert it yourself.

If the time is completely unknown, the personal chart and most relationship modes let you start without it and explain what’s missing. Parent & child readings need both birth hours, so you’ll need those for that report.

It’s okay to leave it unknown

I’d rather work with an honest gap than a guessed time that looks certain in the finished chart. A missing hour can change the detail available, so keep the notes in mind as you read.

You could check a birth record or ask whether a family member has a note. If you’re still unsure what to enter, send me a question. We can talk about what you have and whether a reading makes sense for you.

Before you begin: Use the details you know, and leave room for anything you’re less certain about.

05 · Your space, thoughtfully considered

What is a Feng Shui consultation like?

A fresh perspective on the place you live or work—and what you want it to support.

Read the guide · 2 min

What would you like your space to support?

You may be settling into a new home, rethinking your workspace, or wondering why a room you love doesn’t feel quite right. I like to begin with what’s on your mind and what you want from the space.

My work brings Classical Feng Shui together with practical interior guidance. I want any suggestions to feel considered and personal, with respect for your taste, your priorities, and the realities of the place you live or work.

Changes that make sense for you

You don’t need to change everything at once. A consultation gives you a fresh perspective and helps you consider which adjustments are worth making for this stage of your life or business.

Before you book, we’ll talk about what you’d like help with, the scope, what I’ll need from you, and the fee. I offer local and remote consultations, and you can book a Four Pillars reading on its own.

A question to begin with: What would I like to feel more of in this space?
